     Let me tell you guys that this list was extremely hard to create. Picking the ten games and then placing them into an ordered list was maddening. Believe it or not though choosing my #1 game was the easiest part. Persona 5 immediately popped into my head when I started thinking this up. Out of every game that I have played on the PS4, Persona 5 gave me the most enjoyable experience. It took me over 125 hours to get through the story and I enjoyed every second of it. JRPGs are my favorite type of game to play and I consider P5 to be perfect in every way. It managed to stay true to the games that came before it but it improved on every bit of the formula. Usually, Persona games take an agonizingly long time to get going but P5 started with a bang and had me frantically running through a wicked casino and put me directly into combat within the first few minutes of the game. This is such a stark contrast to how Persona games usually open. The game also has the strongest sense of style I've ever seen in any video game. From the colors and fonts used, to the music, and just the way everything is generally laid out, the game is literally gushing with style. It has a unique edginess to it.

     

     You play as an average high school student by day and become a phantom thief at night that is out to steal the hearts of the corrupt. During your time as a student, you will, of course, go to school, work a job, and make connections with all of the people you meet along the way. This may sound mundane but social connections have always been at the core of all modern Persona games. It's vital to the game if you want to have the most powerful party possible. If you just speed from dungeon to dungeon and neglect this part of the game you are in for some trouble down the line as the combat can get tough as nails. Its turn-based combat system is complex yet approachable. It's fast, furious, and fun. Tie all of these gameplay elements together with a wonderful story that kept me guessing until the very end and you have an unforgettable experience. The story had me on the edge of my seat and wasn't ever predictable. The writing and the translation are probably the best I've ever seen in the genre. The game's cast of characters holds a special charm. I grew to love and loathe some of these characters as if I knew them in real life. The voice over work was handled perfectly and all the acting was very believable. As I said earlier, I put over 120 hours into P5. It is an extremely huge game with a ton of stuff for you to do. It's presented in a style all of its own and there isn't anything else like it on the PS4. It is hands down my favorite game of this console generation so far. Now if you'll excuse me I think I need to go play it again.
